Health Minister attending 2nd International Traditional and Complementary Medicine Congress

/MONTSAME/ Minister of Health D.Sarangerel is participating in the second
International Traditional and Complementary Medicine Congress, taking place in Istanbul,
the Republic of Turkey on April 24-27 with involvement of around 2000 representatives
from over 40 countries.
Being co-organized
by the World Health Organization and the Health Ministry of Turkey under the
patronage of the country’s President, the congress aims to make the traditional
medicine an integral part of the healthcare system; find ways to prevent, detect,
and cure widespread chronic diseases with traditional medicine; and address the
challenges faced by traditional medicine.
During her
participation in the event, Minister D.Sarangerel held a meeting with Minister
of Health of Turkey Fahrettin Koca, talking about bilateral cooperation. Present
at the meeting were Ambassador of Mongolia to Turkey R.Bold and representatives
of the General consulate of Mongolia in Istanbul.
At the
beginning of the meeting, Mr. Fahrettin Koca emphasized the Health Ministries of
the countries need to set up a working group and redevelop the plan for
cooperation while noting that bilateral relations and cooperation in healthcare
have been developing successfully in accordance with the Mongolia-Turkey intergovernmental
agreement on health cooperation established in 2004.
Health
Minister extended gratitude to Turkey for successfully organizing the congress
for the second year and concurred with the Turkish Minister on the importance
of holding consultation between the two ministries and redeveloping the plan
for cooperation. She also spoke of a possibility to share experience and
exchange health professionals in the field of Mongolian traditional medicine
that has history of over 5000 years.
Moreover,
the two sides discussed in detail the development of direct collaboration
between national medical universities of the two countries as well as expansion
of bilateral cooperation in organ transplantation, distribution of pharmaceuticals
and medical equipment, and capacity building of medical staff.
