Colder weather to return this week

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Snowfall and blizzards are expected in some parts of western and central aimags in the next few days, with cold temperatures throughout the country, reports the National Agency for Meteorology and Environment.

 

Light snowfall is expected in southern parts of the Gobi region and some parts of eastern aimags on January 12, in northern parts of western and central aimags on January 13, in some parts of western, central, and eastern aimags on January 14, and in some parts of the eastern region on January 15.

 

Wind speed will reach 12-14 m/sec in the Gobi and plains on January 14 and 15.

 

In the depression of Uvs Lake and Darkhad, in the head of Zavkhan River, near Khurenbelchir, and in the basins of Ider and Tes rivers, the temperature will range from -34 to -39 degrees Celsius during the night, and -23 to -28 during the day.

 

In the depression of the Great Lakes, in the mountainous areas of Altai, Khangai, Khuvsgul, and Khentei, and in the basins of Eg, Uur, Kharaa, Yuruu, Tuul, Terelj, Kherlen, Onon, and Khalkh rivers, the temperature will range between -28 and -33 degrees Celsius during the night, and -17 to -22 during the day.

 

In the southern Gobi region and areas with less snow, the night-time temperature will be -15 to -20 degrees Celsius, and the daytime temperature will be -6 to -11 degrees Celsius.

 

In other areas, temperatures are expected to be -22 to -27 during the night, and -13 to -18 during the day. The cold temperatures are expected to ease during daytime in most parts of the country on January 13.
