Tsagaan Sar forecast: Temperatures to reach -45 degrees in the country’s western region

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. During the Tsagaan Sar holiday, colder temperatures are expected in the country’s eastern region.

 

Snowfall and strong winds are expected in the mountainous areas of Altai and Khentii, and in the basins of Orkhon-Selenge and Khalkh rivers on February 2 and 3, in the mountainous areas of Altai, Khangai, and Khentii on February 4, and in the mountainous areas of Khentii and in the Dariganga plains on February 5. 

 

Wind speed will be 4-9 m/sec, reaching 12-14 m/sec in the Gobi and plains. 

 

In the depression of Uvs Lake and Darkhad, and in the basins of Zavkhan, Ider, and Tes rivers, the temperature will range from -40 to -45 degrees Celsius during the night, and -27 to -32 during the day.

 

In the depression of the Great Lakes, in the mountainous areas of Altai, Khangai, Khuvsgul, and Khentei, near Khurenbelchir, and in the basins of Eg, Uur, Orkhon, Selenge, Kharaa, Yuruu, Tuul, Terelj, Kherlen, Onon, Ulz, and Khalkh rivers, the temperature will range between -32 and -37 degrees Celsius during the night, and -18 to -23 during the day.

 

In the southwestern parts of the Gobi region, the night-time temperature will be -18 to -23 degrees Celsius, and the daytime temperature will be -7 to -12 degrees Celsius.

 

In other areas, temperatures are expected to be -24 to -29 during the night, and -12 to -17 during the day.
