2000 trees planted on public tree planting day

The public tree planting day took place at the National Park on
May 7. During the event which gathered more than 500 citizens and 50 entities, 2,000
trees were planted.
Director of the National Park U.Oyunzul said, “20 thousand trees and shrubs will be planted in spring and autumn this year. 100 thousand saplings will also be planted along the Tuul River. Thus, the National Park is planning to plant a total of 120 thousand trees this year. On the public tree planting day, 2000 trees were planted with the participation of citizens and entities.
The next event will take place on May 14 and 8,000 trees will be planted with the participation of more than 100 entities. We pledged commitment to plant 120 million trees in the capital city as part of the ‘One Billion Trees’ national movement. As the park accounts for a quarter of the capital city’s green space, our participation in tree planting is integral. We care for and protect the trees we plant all year round to make sure the tree grows.”
The National Park covers a total area of 973 hectares from the
Marshall Bridge to the Uliastai Bridge. To date, 183 hectares of the land has
been landscaped, and green space, and tree planting works are ongoing on 85
percent of the land. More than 150 thousand trees planted by the park are
growing at a 98.5 percent survival rate.
The National Park takes an active part in raising ecological
awareness. In this regard, a comprehensive training course on landscaping was
provided to more than 10 thousand people. Moreover, a series of contents and
booklets to give people better understanding of tree planting.
It is also planned to kick off landscaping works on May 20 at
two locations in the National Park and create comfortable conditions for
citizens to live.
