FM attends Governing Council Meeting of CoD
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolia’s Foreign Minister L.Purevsuren took part in and addressed the 18th Governing Council Meeting of the Community of Democracies, held at the United Nations in New York city on October 1.
The high representation “Democracy and Security” was chaired by the US Secretary of State John Kerry.
In his speech, Mr Purevsuren said Mongolia has been persistenlty workihng on implementing CoD principles and the Warsaw Declaration, and pointed out Mongolia’s achievements in the last 25 years of democracies, including a development of good governance, a promotion of citizens’ participation and an improvement of electoral system.
He highlighted a significance of civil societies in consolidation of democracy, and said Mongolia has been enjoying a sharing of the democracy experiences and cooperation with the newly established democracies.
At the 18th Governing Council Meeting, Norway was elected the member of Board, and Mongolia--the member of the Executive committee once again. The next Governing Council Meeting will run in Warsaw of Poland this December.
