Water quality monitoring program launched at Khuvsgul Lake

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia and the Asian Development Bank /ADB/ have launched a project "Integrated Livelihoods Improvement and Sustainable Tourism in Khuvsgul Lake National Park Project", funded by the Japanese Government.

Within the framework of the project, a three-year consulting service to implement the Water quality Monitoring Program at the Khuvsgul Lake National Park has been executed by “Natural Sustainable” LLC since March with a view to determine the water quality of the Khuvsgul Lake on the basis of , science, conduct regular monitoring and develop strategies to steadily implement in the future.

Moreover, surveys on water chemistry, water balance, microbiology, water biology, air quality, soil pollution and land use will be performed in different weather conditions. Automatic weather stations and a mobile laboratory for survey of water quality will operate around the lake to collect detailed information. 

At the end of the consulting service work to design and implement the water quality monitoring program, an executor to continue the program will be selected based on its technical capacity and resources.
