“Dever”

Arkhangai /MONTSAME/. This particular copper artifact with gold coating from the early 20th century is called “Dever”. Crafted by a craftsman of Dalai Choinkhor van named Yurentei, the dever weighing 1,745 grams is one of the most valuable exhibits of the aimag museum. Dever is a pot to store spring water, and its previous owner is unknown.
The floral patterns on the pot’s main body were crafted using engraving and piercing techniques, while the lotus petals at its bottom and near its lid, and the illustration of a dragon head on its handle and spout were intricately made using embossing techniques.
The artifact was received from a citizen of Tariat soum named Ayushjav by former director of the museum S.Khalzan in 1963.
