‘Mountain Cat’ short film selected for Toronto International Film Festival

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Directed by a young Mongolian director named Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir, the short film, ‘Mountain Cat’, has been selected for the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival. Previously, the film was also selected for the competitive stage of the Cannes Film Festival in June 2020, and named as one of the top 11 works.


More specifically, the festival’s judges selected 11 films of 12 countries from a total of 3,810 films submitted from 137 countries for the short film competition stage of the international film festival. Of the selected 11 films, 5 films were directed by female directors.

 

Film editor Madlen Sieghartsleitner is also being nominated for the Edimotion Festival for Film Editing and Assembly Art with the ‘Mountain Cat’ short film, reported the filmmakers. With director at ‘Fill’ studio M.Azzaya and actor of ‘X-Tuts’ production G.Dulguun playing as the main characters, the film’s crew consisted of Ts.Ariunaa as the producer, Krish Makhija as cinematographer, and Madlen Sieghartsleitner as film editor. 


The film shows a girl with cardiac problems going to see a shaman, being pressured by her mother. Despite her reluctance, she experiences unexpected emotions and relief.
