Bogd Khaan Palace Museum: The eight-sided Laviran
Art & Culture
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. This temple was the main laviran of the Bogd Khaan’s Yellow Palace, where state activities were carried out.
The fancy two-storey temple was also referred to as the Dorjpovron Temple. Built in Chinese architectural design, the temple’s ground floor was square, while its eight-sided roof was capped by a spire in the shape of a stupa.
The eight-sided laviran stood at the center of the Walls of the Yellow Palace. It was destroyed in 1924.
