Bogd Khaan Palace Museum and Choijin Lama Temple Museum buildings to be strengthened

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. As part of the efforts to protect cultural heritage, the necessary financing for strengthening the buildings of the Bogd Khaan Palace Museum and the Choijin Lama Temple Museum has been reflected in 2022 State Budget bill.
During a press conference on November 2, Minister of Culture Ch.Nomin announced the decision as she introduced the coming year’s budget for the sector. She said, “From the Bogd Khaan Palace Museum and the Choijin Lama Temple Museum to the National Library and the Fine Arts Zanabazar Museum, there are many cultural heritage buildings in the capital city. As the buildings of the museums and the library are old, it is necessary to fortify the buildings. As the Ministry of Culture was re-established after 24 years, a large amount of investment is being made in the sector. Furthermore, in the framework of the ‘Vision-2050’ long-term development policy, one of the major objectives is to strengthen the shared national values. On top of this, the Ministry is currently carrying out works to improve the public knowledge on culture.
As for the works for the development of the creative industry, the Law on Cinematography has been approved by the parliament. In connection with the legislation, a Cinematography Fund will be established with a budget of MNT 10 billion, with aims to develop the sector and provide financial support for its production and promotion. Moreover, the Ministry will support international filmmakers to make their films in Mongolia and collaborate. Of a total of MNT 263 billion which is expected to be allocated for the cultural sector, MNT 116 billion is planned to be utilized for running costs. The sector’s total budget amounts to 0.5 percent of the GDP.”
