Chinggis Khaan National Museum of Mongolia and State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan to Collaborate

Ulaanbaatar, October 14, 2024 /MONTSAME/. During the State Visit of President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa to Turkmenistan on October 10-13, 2024, the Chinggis Khaan National Museum of Mongolia and the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan reached a collaboration agreement.
Established in 1998, the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan mainly showcases archeological artifacts from the time of human settlement in Turkmenistan up to the 17th century. The museum displays restorations of ancient settlements found in the territory of Turkmenistan, featuring clay, bronze, ceramic, and stone artifacts arranged chronically. Notable exhibits include several artifacts from excavations of ancient cities such as New Nissa and Merv, which relate to the history of the Mongol Empire, and interesting relics from the Seljuk and Khwarazmian empires before the Mongol Empire. Moreover, it houses Buddhist art collections of the Sogdian period, as well as a collection of human-shaped stone sculptures.
Director of the State Museum of State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan Meretgeldy Charyev and Director of the Chinggis Khaan Museum of Mongolia, academician Chuluun Sampildondov held a special meeting.
At the meeting, the two sides agreed to collaborate in conducting joint research on artifacts related to the Mongol Empire and the Turkic history in Mongolia. Mr. Chuluun Sampildondov extended an invitation to Director Meretgeldy Charyev to participate in the “Forum of Mongolian and Regional National Museums” to be held in Mongolia in August 2025.
Turkmenistan has a significant number of artifacts related to the history of the Chagatai Khanate, Ilkhanate, and the northern regions of the Golden Horde, and people of Turkmenistan spoke the Chagatai language.
