Tea Road Monument erected in Ulaanbaatar

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A monument to the Tea Road through which, in ancient times, caravansary carried tea between Mongolia, China and Russia has been erected in the yard of Dulmaalin Monastery of Ulaanbaatar. Opening ceremony for the monument was held July 22.
Deputy Mayor of Ulaanbaatar for green growth and air pollution J.Batbayasgalan shared that about 460 specialists from Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China, which is one the Tea Road Counties, came to Mongolia for a forum. “Relations between Ulaanbaatar and other cities along Tea Road are vital for Mongolia and the mobilization of its goal for tourism development and economic growth. This forum will consider what effects tourism development along Tea Road will have on economies, and what opportunities await for cooperation in tourism. Tea Road passes through 10 cities of Mongolia, Russia and China”, he went on.
“Monument to Tea Road is erected in each city. This place we are standing today was a major market place and was chosen after some discussions with scholars”, underlined J.Batbayasgalan.
In 2014, Mongolian, Chinese and Russian presidents held the first trilateral meeting which recognized an agreement on creating an Economic Corridor, bringing together initiatives such as the Steppe Road of Mongolia, Eurasian Economic Union of Russia and the Belt and Road of China.
The Project on Promoting Tourism Along Tea Road was one of the 32 projects planned in the margin of the Economic Corridor program.
