Academic conference on 'Khalkh River Battle' begins

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. “Battle of Khalkhiin Gol - 80th anniversary” academic conference kicked off on August 14 in Khalkhgol soum of Dornod aimag. Director of Institute of History and Archaeology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences Sc.D S.Chuluun and Director of the Transbaikal State University of the Russian Federation V.V.Kuznetsov are attending the conference along with more than 20 scholars and 80 local and foreign delegates.
The conference is touching upon issues surrounding the Khalkhiin Gol Battle of 1939, impact of the Battle on international relations, the reasons behind its start and end. Initiated by the Institute of History and Archaeology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and “Victory” museum of Khalkhgol soum, the conference is being organized by the Governor’s office of Khalkhgol soum and the “Victory” museum.
