Planting Trees That Can Grow in Gobi

Ulaanbaatar, June 30, 2023 /MONTSAME/. “Borkhoin Bayan Burd,” a locally owned entity in Zamiin-Uud soum, Dornogobi aimag, has been contributing to enhancing green spaces in the aimag as part of the “One Billion Trees” National Campaign initiated by President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa.
The local entity has been planting seedlings of trees and bushes that can grow in Gobi, such as pine, silverberry, wolfberry, caragana, Siberian crabapple, honeysuckle, and cherry, in an area of 320 square meters. The purpose of the planting effort is to conduct experiments and research, as well as promote plant breeding in the region.
This spring, the locally owned entity "Borkhoin Bayan Burd" planted over seven thousand silverberries, more than five thousand Acer ginnala, and 11 thousand caraganas, and they have been consistently nurturing the planted trees.
The Environment and Tourism Department of Dornogobi aimag reported, "Three thousand elms, one thousand silver aspens, 20 thousand silverberries, 31,200 tamarisks, and one thousand willows were planted in an open field. Additionally, 1,250 two-year-old tamarisk and 450 almond seedlings have been planted in tree nurseries."
