Hong Kong’s Matilda International Hospital to Treat Children with Diseases Incurable in Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar, March 7, 2024. /MONTSAME/. The Consulate General of Mongolia in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China initiated cooperation with Matilda International Hospital and the cooperation enables each month 1-2 Mongolian children with diseases incurable in Mongolia or with diseases that need special surgeries to have international standard medical services free of charge at Matilda International Hospital.


The first Mongolian child who arrived at the Hospital within the framework of this cooperation is being treated, and after detailed laboratory tests, three joint international teams are planning to perform surgery.


The Government of Mongolia is supporting the project, and as part of its social responsibility to make and keep Mongolian children healthy, MIAT Airlines, Mongolia, the National Flag Carrier covered the flight cost for the mother and the child. Also, training and capacity building of the doctors of the National Centre for Maternal and Child Health have started.


Children to be treated at Matilda International Hospital in Hong Kong are selected together with professionals from the National Centre for Maternal and Child Health. The cooperation opens an opportunity for many children to undergo free surgery at Matilda Hospital, which is expensive and rarely performed in Mongolia. With 117 Years of healthcare experience, Matilda International Hospital is considered one of the leading hospitals in Hong Kong and the region.


Minister of Justice and Home Affairs B.Enkhbayar paid a working visit to the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China on February 27-29, 2024. During his working visit, the Minister met with Lieutenant O. Orhontuya, from a unit of the General Executive Agency of Court Decision, who is having her 7-year-old son treated at the Matilda International Hospital. Minister Enkhbayar got acquainted with the condition of her son, expressed his gratitude to the hospital management and the medical team, and wished the little patient good health.
