International Jazz Day to be celebrated for a week

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Goethe-Musiklabor Ulan Bator (GMUB) at the Music and Dance College of Mongolia hosts a series of events dedicated to the International Jazz Day, promoting jazz music to the public on April 24-30.
On April 24, singers and musicians of GMUB paid tribute to Ella Fitzgerald’s 100th birthday, performing her hits, presenting the story of her life and career at the weekly event held on Tuesdays.
On April 25, ‘Born to be Blue’ (2015) biopic of jazz legend Chet Baker was screened jointly with the Cinema Club free of charge. At the end of the screening, his most popular hit was performed by graduates of GMUB.
Founder of the GMUB, German bassist, professor Martin Zenker is giving speech on ‘Intellectual Property/Challenges and Opportunities’ based on his experience on April 26.
The ‘JAZZ DUO’ jam session will take place at the Cosy Club UB on April 27 free of charge. It will be also possible for the audience to perform with the artists.
The Jazz Train band performing a concert on the occasion of the International Jazz Day is to talk about jazz music, the band, watch films about music and drink coffee with the fans on Saturday, April 28.
Monsudar publishing house, Goethe Institute, GMUB and Music and Dance College is to host an opening of the book ‘Jazz Harmony’ by Wolfgang Broyer on April 29.
The leading quintet band of GMUB, The Jazz Train will stage a full concert on April 30 (International Jazz Day) at the Corporate Hotel and Convention Centre. Their debut album named after the band became Hi-fi Records’ Album of the year.
