Art & Culture
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Tracing back to the period between the late 19th century and the early 20th century, the library of the Bogd Khaan was a noteworthy intellectual center that was passed down from the time of the Undur Gegeen Zanabazar.
The Bogd Khaan’s library had many volumes of books and sutras written in Mongolian, Tibetan, Sanskrit, Manchu, and Chinese. It is recorded that the books covered various sectors, from those relating to Buddhism such as crafts, caring after something, and reasoning as well as astronomy, astrology, and history.
The books that were kept at the library are now kept at the National Library of Mongolia as well as the library of the Gandantegchinlen Monastery. The room where the Bogd Khaan used to read his books in the summer is currently kept the way it was originally.
