Mongolian Foreign Affairs State Secretary Participates in 11th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development

Ulaanbaatar, February 21, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The 11th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development will be organized from 20-23 February, 2024, under the theme: “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: The effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions in Asia and the Pacific” at the United Nations Conference Center (UNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand.


Organized by the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), this Forum will convene delegates to discuss the regional implementation of the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development." The discussions will focus on policy solutions addressing interconnected issues such as climate change, poverty, peace, justice, and partnership. Additionally, there will be deliberations on intensifying the implementation of sustainable development goals. National-level activities and good practices will also be presented during the Forum.


Ankhbayar Nyamdorj, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, participated in a high-level meeting on the first day of the Forum and conveyed the position of the Mongolian Government. He emphasized that the Forum serves not only as a crucial platform for regional implementation of the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" but also as a significant preparatory stage for the September 2024 Summit of the Future. State The Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also highlighted Mongolia's national contributions to global efforts toward achieving sustainable development goals, along with the government's policies and initiatives.


Furthermore, during the Forum, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held meetings with Amina J. Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations; Armida Alisjahbana, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific; and Alia El Yassir, the UN Women Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia. During these meetings, updates were provided on the preparations for the World Women's Forum scheduled for August 22-23, 2024, and discussions were held on various areas of potential cooperation.
