Mongolia and China to Expand Cooperation in the Tourism and Cultural Sectors

Ulaanbaatar, January 8, 2025 /MONTSAME/. On January 7, 2025, Minister of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth of Mongolia Nomin Chinbat and Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China Sun Yeli held a meeting to discuss the development of bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector. The two sides agreed to feature Mongolia as the highlighted country in a major travel and tourism exhibition in 2025. 


Specifically, the two parties agreed to develop cross-border tourism and invite famous Chinese influencers to visit Mongolia and include Mongolia as an official partner country in the “China International Travel Mart” and “China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market” tourism exhibitions organized in China to promote tourism products and services. 


In addition, as part of efforts to develop bilateral cooperation in the cultural sector, the two sides agreed to organize joint exhibitions, ensure the realization of the 2011 Agreement on Preventing Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Property and Theft of Historical and Cultural Monuments, and cooperate in combating crimes against cultural heritage. Furthermore, the two Ministries agreed to intensify cooperation in the protection of World Heritage and collaborate to register the cultural heritages along the “Great Tea Route.”


At the meeting, Minister Nomin Chinbat noted the successful progress of the construction of the Mongolian Grand Theatre of National Arts and expressed gratitude for the support provided by the People’s Republic of China.
