Ulaanbaatar, July 18, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The 2025 FISU World University Games, also known as "Universiade 2025", is a major international multi-sport event for university athletes, taking place in Duisburg, Germany on July 16-27, 2025.
The Opening Ceremony was held under the slogan "Everybody is all-in!" at the Schauinsland-Reisen Arena, which has a seating capacity of 35,000. A unique highlight of the ceremony was the lighting of the Universiade flame in six separate cauldrons simultaneously — a departure from previous editions of the Games.
The 2025 event brings together 8,500 athletes from 114 countries, competing in 18 sports to showcase their strength, agility, and skill.
Mongolia is represented by approximately 120 athletes competing in archery, volleyball, judo, 3x3 basketball, taekwondo, athletics, swimming, tennis, fencing, and table tennis. Mongolian athletes in table tennis, 3x3 basketball, and swimming have already begun competing.
In table tennis, Mongolia lost to the People's Republic of China with a score of 0–3. The team is scheduled to play its final group match against the Lebanese Republic, where a win would secure advancement to the next round.
