Mongolia and Türkiye to Expand Cooperation in Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Management

Ulaanbaatar, May 20, 2025 /MONTSAME/. On May 19, 2025, Chief of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) of Mongolia Major General Ariunbuyan Gombojav held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Mongolia Başak Genç Yüksel to discuss the expansion of bilateral cooperation in disaster risk reduction and emergency management. 


At the meeting, Major General Ariunbuyan provided an overview of NEMA’s operations and briefed the Ambassador on the ongoing collaboration between the two countries in disaster risk reduction. The Major General expressed gratitude for the support extended by the people of Türkiye during times of difficulty. The Chief of the National Emergency Management Agency also acknowledged the valuable expertise shared by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye in the development of a unified information database, as well as the General Directorate of Forestry in wildlife preparedness and response. 


Ambassador Yüksel expressed satisfaction with the collaboration between the National Emergency Management Agency of Mongolia and the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority of the Republic of Türkiye, and affirmed commitment to further strengthening this partnership. 


Notably, the Governments of Mongolia and the Republic of Türkiye exchanged views on potential areas of collaboration during the Fourth Meeting of the Mongolia-Türkiye Joint Committee on Economic and Trade Cooperation in 2005, laying the foundation for bilateral cooperation in disaster management.
