Mongolia-Kuwait intergovernmental commission holds its first meeting
The first meeting of the Intergovernmental commission between Mongolia and Kuwait was held on 23-24 May in Kuwait city. Mongolian delegation headed by Head of Cabinet Secretariat J.Munkhbat took part in the meeting, where talks, touching on the development of economic cooperation between the two countries, issues on investment and nonrefundable aid, implementation of joint projects and developing cooperation in cultural and media sector, were held.

Ch.Azzaya wins silver from Asian Women’s Judo Championships
Mongolian judoka Ch.Azzaya lost the bout for gold in 52 kg category of the Asian Women’s Championships 2017 and grabbed silver medal. Her rival for the final bout was Ai Shishime of Japan, who won the bout by Wazari in extra time.

M.Urantsetseg becomes Asian champion for the second time
Urantsetseg Munkhbat (48 kg) won her second gold medal from the Women’s Judo Asian Championships, having defeated G.Otgontsetseg of Kazakhstan in the final bout.

MSE marks 12th anniversary of first IPO in Mongolia
Twelve years ago, the first Initial Public Offering (IPO, an act of offering the stock of a company on a public stock exchange for the first time) was issued in the Mongolian Stock Exchange on May 25, 2005. Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Sato Mutsumi hit the gong of MSE to open the 5482nd trading session, which coincided with the 12th anniversary.

Border stations to be closed on May 30 and June 01
Border stations of Mongolia and China will be closed on May 30 and June 01. Border stations do not work on the day of Dragon Boat Festival of China and International Children’s day on June 01.   Dragon Boat Festival occurs on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar and the festival of 2017 falls on May 3. International trains and flights will be conducted to their usual schedule.

Money supply raised by MNT221 billion
Today, May 26, Bank of Mongolia officials made a briefing on economic changes in April. Money supply to the market reached MNT12.4 trillion, up by MNT221 billion, compared to the same period of the previous month. 53 per cent of the supply is tugrug savings and 19 per cent is foreign currency savings. Foreign currency savings have been dropped constantly over last months due to Tugrig’s exchange rate increase against foreign currency, said a senior officer of Research and Statistics Department of Bank of Mongolia A.Anand.

Mongolia and Czech establish agreement on aviation cooperation
On May 25, D.Ganbat, Minister of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia and Ivana Grollova, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Mongolia signed an agreement on aviation relationship. Thanks to the agreement, the two countries will enjoy opportunity to develop bilateral air transport relations, by conducting direct and charter flight between Mongolia and Czech.

Foreign-exchange reserves to reach USD 4 billion
Today, May 26, Bank of Mongolia made a press briefing regarding the International Monetary Fund's approval of Extended Fund Facility program for Mongolia. D.Orgil, spokesperson of the Bank of Mongolia (BoM) read the central bank's statement, which reported that USD 38.6 million, an initial funding of  the Extended Fund Facility program, has been funded to BoM to increase foreign-exchange reserves.

Gandantegchinlen Monastery area to be renovated into tourist zone
Gandantegchinlen Monastery, the center of Mongolian Buddhists, is one of the most visited tourists’ sightseeing in Ulaanbaatar. The capital administration is to establish a tourist complex zone at the monastery area, implementing ‘Gandan Khuree Street” project.

On May 25, Thursday, a draft bill on Amendment to the Constitution of Mongolia was handed over to Parliament Speaker M.Enkhbold by Member of Parliament D.Lundeejantsan, head of the working group in charge of formulation of the draft bill.

Model hospital building to be constructed by Austrian Vamed Engineering
A new model hospital building with 150-200 beds will be constructed in Songinokhairkhan district by Vamed Engineering company of Austria. The company won the bid of construction and equipment supply of the hospital, which will be built within the Fourth Health Sector Development project. Today, the Ministry of Health established a contract with the Vamed Engineering Company.

Observation mission for presidential election includes 20 observers from 12 countries
On May 24, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe's (OSCE) Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) formally opened a limited election observation mission for the presidential election in Mongolia, which is expected on June 26. The mission’s deployment follows an official invitation from the Mongolian Government.

Regional Cooperative Agreement on Nuclear Science backed
The cabinet of ministers approved the 2017 Regional Cooperative Agreement for Research, Development and Training Related to Nuclear Science and Technology for Asia and the Pacific on May 24. The agreement’s main purpose is facilitating the possibilities for exchange of technologies, human resource capacity-building, determining need for nuclear technology, introducing some areas to nuclear technology, promoting sustainable development and conducting joint studies.

AN-2 biplane to be built in Mongolia
Ministry of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia is holding an open day at the central square on May 24-25. The event will be presenting the upcoming projects and programs, as well as some new advanced technologies in road, air and railway transport sectors.
