Central region forum of mining sector to be held in Orkhon aimag
A Central region forum of mining sector will be held on May 04 in Orkon aimag, on the occasion of 95th anniversary of Mining sector development in Mongolia. The forum under the theme “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” will be organized by the Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry, Authority of Mineral Resources and Oil and Erdenet mining corporation. PM J.Erdenebat, Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry, MPs, authorities of Darkhan-Uul, Orkhon, Selenge, Khuvsgul, Bulgan, Tuv, Arkhangai and Uvurkhangai, scholars and researchers will attend the forum.

Fire extinguished at Bogd Mountain, no injuries
Today, on April 26, around 12:24 AM, the Emergency Management Department of Ulaanbaatar city received a call reporting a fire in the Nukht area in the Bogd Mountain. A fire brigade of over 60 emergency workers had been fighting and just moments ago, it was reported that the fire is fully extinguished. Currently, around 5 ha land is burnt and police department is now investigating the cause of the fire.

Foreign Minister Ts.Munkh-Orgil receives UK delegates
On April 26, Ts.Munkh-Orgil, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia received delegates from the United Kingdom headed by Simon McDonald, Head of the Diplomat Service and Permanent Under-Secretary at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the UK, who is in Mongolia attending a roundtable meeting between Mongolia and the United Kingdom.

Mongolia-China infrastructure cooperation meeting taking place in Beijing
A council meeting of mineral, energy and infrastructure cooperation between Mongolia and the People's Republic of China starts today, April 26, in Beijing. The meeting is being attended by J.Munkhbat, chairman of Mongolian side of the Council and Head of the Cabinet Secretariat, D.Ganbat, Minister of Road and Transport Development, Ts.Dashdorj, Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry, P.Gankhuu, Minister of Energy and other officials.

Online platform for interbank foreign exchange launched
Opening ceremony of the online platform for interbank currency exchange took place at Tuushin Hotel on April 26. In collaboration of the Bank of Mongolia and Bloomberg L.P., beta version of the platform was released on April 10. Bank of Mongolia noted that the platform was adapted by the Parliament’s Monetary Policy for 2017, which states “Taking measures to develop internal currency market infrastructures”.

Mongolian Ambassador pays courtesy call on Crown Prince of Kuwait
On Tuesday, April 25, Z.Chintushig, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the State of Kuwait paid a courtesy call on Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of Kuwait. Conveying the warm greetings from Ts.Elbegdorj, President of Mongolia to the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Ambassador Z.Chintushig expressed his belief that the Crown Prince will support broadening the future bilateral cooperation between Mongolia and Kuwait. Also, the Ambassador of Mongolia noted that the people of Mongolia appreciate the Government of Kuwait for providing soft loan for the infrastructure projects in Mongolia”.

French company to study possibility of solar plant at Auto Trade Complex
A study on possibility to establish solar power plant on an open parking area of the Auto Trade Complex will be conducted by “Akyo Energy” company of the French Republic.  Today, April 25, a memorandum of understanding was signed by Governor of the Capital and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar City S.Batbold, Chairman of Auto Trade Complex, local government-owned company O.Mungunshagai and a representative of the Akyo Energy Company.

Antler gathering prohibited in forest steppe areas
D.Oyunkhorol, Minister of Environment and Tourism has issued a resolution to prohibit antler gathering in the forest steppe zones during the dry season of spring in order to prevent fire hazard. The resolution is valid annually from March 20 through June 10 and between September 20 and November 10.  Since the beginning of this year, a total of 35 forest fires has occured nationwide caused by people travelling in the area, collecting antlers or harvesting pine nuts.

Mongolia tourist arrivals reaches 76.6 thousand in first quarter of 2017
Mongolia’s Visitor Arrivals recorded 629.3 thousand persons in the first quarter of 2017 and 552.8 thousand of them were permanent residents. In relation to the data, Tourist Arrivals recorded 76.6 thousand, which is 12 percent of the Visitor Arrivals. According to the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the number reached an all-time high of 475.8 thousand in 2012.

Consular issues discussed at Mongolian-South Korean Foreign Ministries' meeting
The ninth consular consultative meeting between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Republic of Korea took place on April 24, in Ulaanbaatar.
