Parking complex to be built at entrance to hiking trail of Bogd Khan Mountain
A complex station of car and bicycle parking, bus stop and taxi stand will be built at the entrance to the hiking trail of the Bogd Khan Mountain, Strictly Prohibited Area (SPA), covering 1.2 ha of land. The Bogd Khan Mountain, lies in the south of Ulaanbaatar city is one of attractive traveling areas for Mongolians as well as foreigners.    There are three main routes of hiking trails to the Bogd Khan Mountain, and the busiest route Zaisan-Dugui Tsagaan-Baruun Shireet is occupied by 4000-5000 people during the weekends and 350-400 cars aggregate at the starting point, blocking the area.

Mongolian volleyball team loses to S.Koreans in close game
The final of a section of the East Asian Volleyball Championships was between the teams of Mongolia and South Korea on Monday. The Mongolian team was defeated by 2:3 in a very close match, and was qualified for the semi-final. Mongolia’s first rival in the semi-final will be Japan. In Section A, South Korea is to play against Macao, which Mongolia clean swept by 3:0 in the first match.

Deputy PM attending 5th Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction
Mongolian delegation, headed by Deputy Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh is attending the  5th Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Cancún, Mexico, from 22 to 26 May. The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, as recognized by the UN General Assembly, is the main forum at the global level for strategic advice, coordination, partnership development and the review of progress in the implementation of international instruments on disaster risk reduction. It was established in 2006 and is now the world's foremost gathering of stakeholders committed to reducing disaster risk and building the resilience of communities and nations. Over 5000 representatives of governments, international organizations and civil society including some prime ministers, member of parliaments, and UN high ranking officials are attending the conference.

Salary loan interest lowered for doctors and teachers
Doctors and teachers of state-owned medical institutions, schools and kindergartens now can get salary loan with 18 per cent interest rate and without additional fee, while general salary loan interest amounts to 21-23 per cent.

Mongolian delegates offer to host Open Government Partnership Forum at home
Mongolian and Sri Lankan officials have exchanged views on actions being taken in frames of the Open Government Partnership, during the visit of a Mongolian delegation, led by the head of Cabinet Secretariat, Mr J.Munkhbat, to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. On the sidelines of the visit, the Mongolian delegation met with the authorities of Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Local Government and Provincial Councils, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Agency of Information and Communication Technology, and representatives of civil societies.

First heart transplant performed on animal
A surgical team of the First State Central Hospital, led by Academician N.Baasanjav performed the first experimental heart transplant on an animal on May 19. The hospital is implementing a program to introduce high technology of organ and cell transplantation and this kind of experimental surgeries will be carried on further.

Children’s writer J.Dashdondog nominated for Hans Christian Anderson Award
State Prize Laureate and State Honored Cultural Figure, children’s writer Jamba Dashdondog was included in the 33 nominations of 33 countries for the “Hans Christian Anderson Award” (HCAA), which is dubbed as "Nobel Prize for Children’s Literature”. J.Dashdondog is nominated for this internationally respected award for the second time. From his works, “Gurvan maral” (The three fallow deers), “Ger” (Home), “Yesogchin”, “Khar shuvuunii tsagaan tuukh” (White tale of a black bird) and “Uuduu haysan chuluu” (Karma) are nominated in the HCAA 2018.

Public officials being trained on sustainable growth and green management
Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Project, jointly implemented by the Green Growth Policy Planning Department and Clean Technology, Investment and Production Division of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is conducting series of training themed “Green Organizational Management”. The training will continue until the end of May. The training is being carried out in the margin of implementation of Mongolia’s Green Growth Policy and its action plan.

"Future Champion" national puppy show approaching
A competition of 3-6 month-old puppies of Mongolian national breeds of dogs is taking place on Saturday, May 20, in the National Park of Ulaanbaatar. The competition is named “Future Champion”. There was a time when Mongolian “Bankhar” watchdogs had been on the brink of extinction. Now there are more than 40 dog shelters that only specialize by this pure national breed of dogs.

Director S.Sansar creates short film about circle of time
A Mongolian short film called “I am…”, directed by Sansar Sangidorj, is taking over the American audience. The film has been shot in the USA. It narrates about a circle of time and cycle of human life by a story of a boy riding a bicycle across playground, his neighborhood, then through busy streets and highways, and finally through blizzards as he grows old.
