Project of 1000 temporary housing units to commence soon
On April 19, G.Munhkbayar, Minister of Construction and Urban Development met with Cao Zhiang, Secretary of Economy and Commerce of the Asia Division of the Department of Foreign Assistance of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China. During the meeting, the Mongolian Minister touched on a subject to launch a project to build 1000 temporary housing units with non-refundable aid from the Chinese Government.

Agreement for China's USD 1 billion soft loan to be amended
The Cabinet agreed to discuss the amendments to the general agreement of up to USD 1 billion soft loan between the Government of Mongolia and Export-Import Bank of the People's Republic of China with corresponding Parliamentary standing committees.

MNT35 billion spent for free trade zones from state budget
A total of MNT35 billion has been spent for three free economic zones of Altanbulag, Zamyn-Uud and Tsagaannuur since their establishment, said Deputy Prime Minister U. Khurelsukh. Yesterday, April 19, the Deputy PM made a report on the activities of the free zones and future perspective at the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economics. 77 per cent of the funding has been invested for infrastructure development of the Altanbulag free zone, which is running regular activities.

Government and ADB agree to implement program to stabilize banking sector
The actual risk of irregularity in financial intermediary functions of banks is very high for some Mongolian banks due to the great amount of non-performing loans. In this regard, the government has agreed with the Asian Development Bank on implementing a Program on Restoration of Banking and Strengthening Financial Stability in order to compensate the financial deficit in banks to fulfill gaps of payment.

ADB loan agreement backed
Yesterday, the Cabinet discussed and backed loan agreements between the Government of Mongolia and the Asian Development Bank to jointly implement “Social welfare support program-2” and “Restoring Bank sector and strengthening financial stability program”. Then the Cabinet decided to submit the agreements to relevant parliamentary standing committees for their consent.
