UN Secretary-General Reaffirms Support for Cooperation between Mongolia and UN

Ulaanbaatar, June 26, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations Ankhbayar Nyamdorj met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres at the UN Headquarters on June 24, 2025.
During the meeting, Permanent
Representative Ankhbayar expressed Mongolia’s support for the “UN-80”
initiative proposed by Secretary-General Guterres, considering that the
initiative represents a timely reform aimed at enhancing the effectiveness,
efficiency, and transparency of the United Nations system, reviewing the existing
mandates, eliminating overlapping functions, and driving structural changes. Mr.
Ankhbayar also briefed the Secretary-General on the activities, projects, and
programs of UNICEF in Mongolia, emphasizing the agency’s long-standing and
valuable contribution to the protection and development of children and youth, the
future of the nation. The parties exchanged views on further strengthening this
cooperation.
Secretary-General Guterres fondly
recalled his fruitful 2022 official visit to Mongolia, which is a symbol of
peace. Mr. Guterres highlighted Mongolia’s valuable contribution to UN
peacekeeping operations and reaffirmed his support for the cooperation between the United Nations and Mongolia.
