Discussion runs on training programme for electoral reps

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ “Institutionalizing national training programme for local electoral representatives: Course and strategy” discussion took place on Tuesday at the State House in frames of “Empowering local self-governance bodies” project co-implemented by the Parliamentary Office, the UNDP and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

Head of the parliamentary Standing committee on state structure A.Bakei opened the discussion, stressing its importance for members of the Citizens Representative Khurals, "this discussion is considering issues such as continuing the training, keeping its financial stability, strengthening the capability, and fortifying a role of workshops held by the project".

The secretary-general of the Parliamentary Office B.Boldbaatar made a related to the theme presentation. "The project has some goals such as to create a mechanism of working out and realizing a national training programme for local electoral representatives, to promote the civil participation in decision-making, to increase a monitoring role of the Citizens’ Representative Khurals, to support a cooperation of the councils, and to improve a legal environment for local self-governance bodies by forming a mechanism of exchanging information and knowledge," he said and highlighted details of the project's activities. 

The discussion brought together officials from the Standing committee on state structure, the government, the SDC, the Management Academy, the Public Service Council, the Institute of Local Development and representatives of soums and bagas (smallest administrative unit in localities).
