Judoka G.Odbayar wins gold in Baku

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ International Master of Sports G.Odbayar claimed gold medal in men’s 73 kg category of the Baku Grand Slam 2017, held in Azerbaijan, having defeated the best of world judokas on Day 2 (March 11).

International Master of Sports O.Uuganbaatar won the bronze medal in men’s 81 kg.

As for G.Odbayar, he clean-sweeped his Georgian rival Shavdatuashvili by penalty in the semi-final. In the final bout, Odbayar wrestled with the twice world champion from Japan Riki Nakaya by two wazaris.

Odbayar was defeated by his Japanese rival for three times in previous competitions.

Six Mongolian judokas were challenged in the Baku Grand Slam, D.Amartuvshin (men’s 60kg) and G.Kherlen (men’s 66 kg) were ranked at the seventh places of their respective weight categories.
