Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In accordance with the Presidential Decree, “The National Day of Tree Planting” has been organized since 2010 on the Saturday of second week of May and October every year. This year, the National Day of Tree Planting will fall on May 12.

In ‘Happy Ulaanbaatar’ program of the 2016-2020 Action Plan of the Mayor of the capital city and Governor of Ulaanbaatar, it has been stated that Ulaanbaatar city will have green development policy in compliance with international standard and comfortable conditions will be created for citizen to live in Ulaanbaatar city. Thus, the National Tree Planting Day has been involving a wide number of government, non-government, private organizations, entities, and citizens from year to year.

As for this year, it has been planned to plant trees in three areas of the capital city. Traditionally, people and organizations plant trees in the National Park every year. For this time, the Water Management Authority will plant trees in Mongol Naadam complex and in Central Wastewater Treatment Plant. The National Tree Planting day together with exhibitions will be organized in all districts.

Additionally, citizens have planted a total of 2 million and 22 thousand trees between 2010 and 2017. Only planting trees is not enough and it needs to be cared to grow well. So, the Governor’s Office of the capital city called for citizens to care for their planted trees.
