Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At its regular meeting on February 24, the Cabinet decided that general education schools, kindergartens, and day nurseries in aimags, soums, villages, and bags will resume operations from March 1, 2021.

Classroom sessions will be held partially for ‘catch-up’ classes only and the children and their parents and guardians can choose between in-person or distance (TV or online) learning.

The cabinet also decided that universities, colleges, and vocational schools in rural areas will remain closed and rejected the suggestion from the Ministry of Education and Science to reopen Ulaanbaatar’s general education schools on March 10, 2021 and kindergartens, day nurseries, universities, colleges, and vocational schools on April 1, 2021.

As the return to normalcy of citizens and businesses which followed the lifting of Ulaanbaatar’s strict lockdown does not mean the danger is over, the Cabinet resolved to make decisions regarding reopening remaining educational institutions in light of the prevailing COVID-19 circumstances.
