UN Development Framework 2017-2022 Steering Committee reviews Report 2020

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. The Joint UN and Government of
Mongolia Steering Committee meeting to review the Report 2020 of the United
Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) 2017-2021 for Mongolia was
held on March 25 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Officials from relevant ministries and agencies and
representatives of UN agencies in Ulaanbaatar attended the meeting, exchanging
views on results, achievements, challenges in projects and programs being
realized by the UN in Mongolia and issues to give attention in the future.
In her opening speech, Director-General of the Multilateral Cooperation Department, MFA, D.Gerelmaa briefed about the Government’s policy and actions for economic recovery. Underscoring that the UNDAF 2017-2021 implementation in 2020 was conducted during the pandemic, Ms. Gerelmaa noted that the goals were achieved with joint efforts of the UN Resident Coordinator Office, the UN agencies, and the participation of Mongolia’s relevant organizations. She also underlined the importance of ensuring the participation of relevant bodies in formulating the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, which will be implemented from 2023, and taking into account the social and economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and aligning it closely with long-term development policies and goals.
UN Resident Coordinator Tapan Mishra thanked the UN agencies
for their participation in preparing the Results Report 2020 and said that the report
introduces how the UN team has mobilized its resources to achieve the 2020
goals of the document, and the indicators that determine the participation and achievement
of key donors and partners. He also briefed about having of external evaluation
conducted on the program implementation and formulating a new Sustainable
Development Cooperation Framework for 2023-2027.
