Prime Minister receives U.S Ambassador

L.Oyun-Erdene met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the
United States to Mongolia Michael Klecheski.
At the outset of the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the U.S. Government for the donation of 1,088,100 doses of Pfizer vaccine to Mongolia through COVAX Facility. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control has approved the vaccination of children aged 5-11 in the United States. The Prime Minister said that Mongolia has written to BioNTech/Pfizer asking for advice on child vaccination. In turn, Ambassador Michael Klecheski responded he would study this issue and provide information to the PM.
“The Government is paying great attention to strengthening e-governance and combating corruption. The Prime Minister is chairing the National Anti-Corruption Committee. An Anti-Corruption Working Group has been established with aims to intensify the fight against corruption and achieve actual results,” said the PM while expressing willingness to intensify cooperation with the U.S. to strengthen democracy and combat corruption.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the issues related to trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. The Prime Minister noted that the Government has defined the economic priorities within the new policy of economic recovery, and is focusing on the factors that hinder the development, such as problems in transport and logistics, energy, productivity and funding sources. PM L.Oyun-Erdene underscored the importance of intensifying Mongolia –the U.S relations and cooperation within the framework of the key objectives of the new policy of economic recovery.
