Mongolia Earns Two Silver and Five Bronze Medals at Asian Games

Ulaanbaatar, September 28, 2023 /MONTSAME/. The Asian Games 2022 are taking place in Hangzhou, China, between September 23 and October 8, 2023, bringing together over 12 thousand athletes from all 45 members of the Olympic Council of Asia.
This year, Mongolia fielded its largest squad of 403 athletes for the first time to the Asiad. As of September 28, Mongolia is ranking 22nd with a total of seven medals - two silver and five bronze. China is leading the medal tally with 153 medals, including 83 gold, 46 silver, and 24 bronze, followed by South Korea with 76 medals – 20 gold, 20 silver, and 36 bronze – and Japan with 69 medals - 16 gold, 28 silver, and 25 bronze.
The Mongolian Air Rifle Team won the first medal for Mongolia at the 2022 Asian Games, a bronze medal in the 10m Air Rifle Team Shooting Competition with a score of 1,880. The team was composed of International Masters of Sports O. Yesugen, Ch. Narantuya, and G. Nandinzaya.
Mongolia claimed the most medals in the Judo competition. Specifically:
In the women's 52 kg category, L. Sosorbaram secured a bronze medal by holding Maharini Maryam from Indonesia in Osae-komi-waza. The two-time World Championships bronze medalist Yo. Baskhuu bagged a silver medal, losing to Tanaka Ryoma from Japan in the men's 66 kg category. World Champion Ts. Tsogtbaatar won a bronze medal in the men's 73 kg category, beating Shamshayev Daniyar from Kazakhstan. In the men's 100 kg category, B. Gonchigsuren captured a silver medal after losing to Turoboyev Muzaffarbek from Uzbekistan. International Master of Sports A. Adiyasuren clinched a bronze medal after a fierce battle, lasting eight minutes and 19 seconds, against Maan Tulika from India, bringing Mongolia's total medal count in judo to five. Furthermore, Mongolia topped the bronze medal podium in the mixed team competition of judo.
