World Weightlifting Champion Ankhtsetseg Qualifies for Olympics

Ulaanbaatar, May 16, 2024. /MONTSAME/. M. Ankhtsetseg, the Honored Athlete of Mongolia and Weightlifting World Champion, has met the requirements to compete in the "Paris-2024" Summer Olympics in the women's 81 kg weightlifting category.


The International Weightlifting Federation has released the preliminary list of athletes set to display their skills in the weightlifting category at the Paris Olympics. Among the names included is M.Ankhtsetseg from Mongolia.


The final list of athletes for "Paris-2024" will be officially announced on May 24, 2024. Following regulations, the National Olympic Committee will confirm this list on May 31, 2024.


In weightlifting, both men and women compete in five weight categories. For each category, the top 10 athletes from the continental, world, and international tournaments held between 2022 and 2024 will qualify for the Olympics based on their participation ranking score. M. Ankhtsetseg has achieved this qualification, earning her the chance to compete in her third Olympics.


The "Golden Girl" Ankhtsetseg achieved a notable performance in the Rio 2016 Olympics, securing the 8th position. In the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, she also demonstrated her power by achieving an impressive 4th place.
