Households in Umnugobi Aimag to Plant 10 Trees in Their Yards

Ulaanbaatar, May 7, 2024 /MONTSAME/. “Energy Resources” LLC, located in Tsogttsetsii soum of Umnugobi aimag, will initiate the “Households with Trees” Project to increase citizen participation in combating desertification to reduce the effects of sandstorms. Under this Project, every household in Tsogttsetsii soum will plant ten trees in their yards.
The Working Group established by the Office of the President of Mongolia to boost the implementation of the “One Billion Trees” National Campaign is working in Tsogttsetsii soum. Currently, “Energy Resources” LLC has provided 2500 saplings and seedlings to 384 households in the soum while giving them technical instructions on how to plant and take care of the newly planted trees.
“By planting trees, the environment and air quality will improve. Particularly fruit trees, as it will also potentially be a source of income,” says a local of Tsogttsetsii soum B. Bayanmunkh. The Working Group also visited the windbreak created by “Energy Resources” LLC and met with the “Sun Duuren” cooperative, which is carrying out forestry and agricultural activities on the field.
The windbreak, being supplied with water and electricity, allows the locals of Tsogttsetsii to grow their fruits and vegetables.
If households combine their efforts and establish cooperatives, they can each earn MNT 3-9 million annually. With the implementation of the “One Billion Trees” National Campaign, the number of trees being planted in this windbreak is increasing, and the demand for saplings and seedlings has increased.
Since the launch of the “One Billion Trees” National Campaign, “Energy Resources” LLC has planted 150 thousand trees.
