Veteran of the Battle of Khalkhiin Gol Chimedtseren Receives Title of “Honored Medical Worker of Mongolia"
PoliticsUlaanbaatar, August 27, 2024 /MONTSAME/. President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa has issued a Decree to award the title of “Honored Medical Worker of Mongolia” to Ts. Chimedtseren, a veteran of the Battle of Khalkhiin Gol. On August 26, 2024, Head of the Office of the President of Mongolia Zandanshatar Gombojav presented the award to veteran Chimedtseren and extended wishes for good health and well-being.
Ts. Chimedtseren, now over 100 years old, noted, “I used to run through gunfire.” As one of the 16 teenage girls, aged 14 to 18, who bravely volunteered to fight in the battle, she was the most honored guest at the 85th Anniversary Celebration of the Battle of Khalkhiin Gol. The veteran who served as a military nurse during the battle, Chimedtseren was just 15 years old and studying at the Temporary Girls’ School in Bayandun soum, Dorno-Gobi aimag, when the battle began. Upon hearing of the sudden attack on Mongolia, she went to the front lines, encouraging other girls to join.
At the celebratory meeting of the 85th Anniversary of the Battle of Khalkhiin Gol at Choibalsan City in Dornod aimag, G. Zandanshatar, Head of the Office of the President of Mongolia, extended congratulations to the Mongolian and Russian veterans, generals, officers, sergeants, as well as to the visitors and citizens in attendance.
The Head of the Office emphasized that the victory of the Battle of Khalkhiin Gol was a historic event that established the basic conditions for Mongolians to safeguard their territorial integrity, secure the inviolability of their state border, and ensure their independence and sovereignty. Mr. Zandanshatar also noted that the values of freedom and independence, along with the lessons of history, should be passed on to future generations and that patriotism should be promoted.
