Premier Oyun-Erdene Issues Directive on Projects and Measures to be Implemented within the First 100 Days of 2025
PoliticsUlaanbaatar, January 2, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Cabinet of Mongolia held its regular session on January 2, 2025. In conjunction with the Government of Mongolia announcing 2025 as the "Year to Support the Development of Infrastructure of Ulaanbaatar City," Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai issued an official directive aimed at accelerating the implementation of major projects and measures included in the Mongolian Government's 2024-2028 Action Program. The directive focuses on ensuring the fulfillment of the following socially and economically important projects and measures to achieve tangible results within the first 100 days of the year.
The relevant members of the Cabinet of Mongolia and Governor of the Capital City Nyambaatar Khishgee were tasked with taking the following measures to support the development of the infrastructure of Ulaanbaatar city:
- Expedite the approval of Ulaanbaatar City's Master Plan up to 2040,
- Create the legal framework for establishing the "Khunnu-Smart" satellite city,
- Begin the construction of heating plants to operate in peak load mode for the centralized heating supply system of Ulaanbaatar City, as well as the heating plants in the city's sub-centers, in stages,
- Study and present the issue of expanding the Thermal Power Plant II and constructing the new Thermal Power Plant V,
- Research the economic efficiency of energy production through waste incineration and implement the project,
- Implement insulation projects to reduce heat loss in households in ger districts and promote energy savings,
- Accelerate the implementation of projects and programs to develop and modernize Ulaanbaatar's engineering infrastructure, enhance its capacity, and ensure the execution of these initiatives in each sector.
A Performance Monitoring Unit will be established to accelerate the implementation of projects and activities under the "Year to Support the Development of Infrastructure of Ulaanbaatar City." The three Deputy Prime Ministers of Mongolia will lead the Headquarters, and relevant ministers will be involved in the process. Additionally, the Cabinet instructed to focus on and achieve results in the implementation of 14 mega projects and other large-scale projects and programs included in the Government's 2024-2028 Action Plan. These are the Oil Refinery Plant project, the construction of the natural gas pipeline from Russia to China through Mongolian territory, the production-sharing agreement with "PetroChina Daqing Tamsag" LLC, the establishment of Gashuunsukhait-Gantsmod Cross-Border Railway Project, "Zuuvch Ovoo" project, the Tavantolgoi Thermal Power station, the irrigation of the Gobi region, the "IV Atar Campaign," and the "New Kharkhorum" city.
