Advance payment for apartment to be provided to Ger district residents
180 thousand families of the capital are to be enabled to buy an apartment, pledging their currently owned land as collateral for the apartment’s advance payment. Governor of Ulaanbaatar city S.Batbold today, 16 June, announced that an Apartment fund for air pollution reduction in the capital, which finances advance payment for residents’ to buy apartment, has been established.
Nine forest fires burning over the country
As of 15 June, there are 9 forest fires burning nationwide, namely, two in Yeroo soum of Selenge aimag, one in Umnudelger soum of Khentii aimag, one in Erdene and one in Mungunmorit soum of Tuv aimag, one in Teshig soum of Bulgan aimag and three in Ulaanbaatar. In connection with the forest fire and dryness situation, yesterday, Deputy PM U.Khurelsukh held a meeting with the authorities of the National Emergency Management Agency, Ministry of Environment and Tourism and National Agency for Meteorology and Environment Monitoring (NAMEM).
Program for homeless launched in Khan-Uul district
Authorities of Khan-Uul districts of Ulaanbaatar have launched a program called “A road back home” toward helping homeless people. A day-event has been organized in frames of the program, to which 96 people came.
Major fire breaks out at Gobi cashmere factory
A fire broke out at the main factory of Mongolia's cashmere product manufacturer “Gobi” JSC, burning down the roof of entire factory complex last night. Authorities initially received the call at 10.45PM and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reacted immediately, deploying all available units.
1000 families’ apartments to be built with Chinese aid
1000 families’ apartments will be built in Ulaanbaatar with non-refundable aid from the Chinese Government, in pursuant to the agreement by PM of Mongolia J.Erdenebat and Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang during the PM’s visit to China in May. Recently, working group delegates headed by Deputy Minister of Construction and Urban Development Sh.Lhamsuren worked in Bugat city (Baotou of Inner Mongolia, Autonomous region of People’s Republic of China).
MIAT launches direct flight between Ulaanbaatar and Busan
MIAT Mongolian Airlines’ first Ulaanbaatar-Busan route flight is scheduled on June 22, Thursday. Starting from June 22, the twice-a-week flights will be regularly conducted from Ulaanbaatar on every Thursdays and Sundays. The newly established route is important in connecting Mongolian business owners to South Korea’s second most-populous city.
Registered unemployment lowered
At the end of May 2017, Labor and Social Welfare Services Agencies have registered 39.4 thousand job seekers, of which 72.3 per cent unemployed and remaining 27.7 per cent were people employed but looking for a new or extra job. Compared to the same period a year ago, registered unemployment decreased by 15.4 per cent, and by 13.7 per cent compared to a month ago. There are no major differences between registered unemployment by sex, with 51 per cent of women.
Altai airport launches new runway
Altai airport under the Civil Aviation Authority in Gobi-Altai aimag, situated in the western part of Mongolia, some 1000 km from Ulaanbaatar, has now new paved runway. The opening ceremony was held on 12 June with attendance of Minister of Road and Transport Development D.Ganbat, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority L.Byambasuren, MP Sh.Radnaased, authorities of Gobi-Altai aimag and other officials.
Overseas voter turnout 66.8 percent
Voter turnout in the overseas Presidential election was 66.8 percent, reported a Head Commission of the General Election Commission which was in charge of collecting the votes of Mongolian nationals living abroad.
Meal, Ready-to-Eat to be supplied for Mongolian military
“Uuts-1” ready-to-eat packaged meal made from domestic food products is ready for Mongolian military food supply. The nutritious and nourishing meal, which meets international standard and hygienic requirements as well as supports domestic production, has been studied since 2013 to be introduced for military supply and norms of meal were approved by the Defense Minister in 2015.

Tsagaan Suvarga Mountain, located in the territory of Mandakh soum, Dornogobi has been taken into locally protected area (LPA) by classification of natural reserves, with the decision of the Citizens Representative Meeting of Dornogobi aimag.
JCI Mongolia hosts Asia-Pacific regional meeting with success
Mongolia hosted the Junior Chamber International (JCI)’s Asia-Pacific Conference 2017 at home with success. In the course of four days between June 8 and 11, over 3,500 young people from 51 countries have attended a total of 81 side events. The events much deserving of highlights included the “Welcome to Mongolia” event, the Business Forum, opening ceremony for the JCI Garden and the JCI Impact awards.
Four bridges to be constructed in 2017 in Ulaanbaatar
The constructions of two bridges above the Tuul River have started with its groundbreaking ceremony on June 5. Specifically, the reconstructions of 312m long bridge in Bayanzurkh district and 289.4m long reinforced concrete bridge in Sonsgolon.

Young Mongolian actor B.Anand won “New Faces Award” with his role Andrej Tschichatschow in film “Tschick” (also known as “Goodbye Berlin”) on April 27, 2017. Student police start their activities
The National Police Agency, Ulaanbaatar Tourism Department and Students' Union of Mongolia launched ‘Tourist friendly campaign-2017’ yesterday, June 8. Some 30 students with English language knowledge selected from 125 students of universities and institutes were trained on tourist safety and security, city tour, historical and cultural sightseeing and have started to work as student police and tourist guide, establishing a labor contract with the Police Department of Ulaanbaatar.
