Foreign Minister received by Senate President of Italy
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr L.Purevsuren Thursday paid a courtesy call on Mr Pietro Grasso, the President of the Senate of Italy with an official visit here.
Mr Grasso underlined the two countries have a broad opportunity to boost the bilateral relations and cooperation, and hoped that the Embassy of Italy to open soon in Ulaanbaatar will have a vital role in it. He emphasized that the bilateral cooperation could boost in areas of industries of leather processing, cashmere products, foods and in the sectors of green economy, infrastructure and energy.
The Foreign Minister Mr Purevsuren noted that the Mongolian side is attaching a great importance to the official visit of the Italian Senate President here, and said Mongolia fully supports proposals of Mr Grasso on forwarding the bilateral cooperation.
Underlining that the cultural ties is one of the areas can be expanded within the bilateral ties and cooperation, Mr Purevsuren asked the Senate President to co-organize cultural events dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations in 2020, to restore a scholarship programme for Mongolian opera singers to study in Italy and to organize a visit of authorities of the La Scala Theatre to Mongolia. The Foreign Minister also put forward proposals to establish a museum in Mongolia, to develop collaboration in football, to co-research ancient documents reserved in Italy regarding Mongolian history and to conduct joint researches.
In response, Mr Grasso said he supported the Foreign Ministry’s proposals, and wished Mongolia a successful hosting of the ASEP9 and ASEM Summit11.
