“Danshig Naadam – Khuree Tsam” festival completes
Art & CultureUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the margin of Friendly Ulaanbaatar Program, the annual religious festival “Danshig Naadam – Khuree Tsam” took over Khui Doloon Khudag Naadam Complex on the weekend of August 6 and 7. The hosts were the UB City administration and the Center of Mongolian Buddhist Lamaism – Gandantegchinlen Monastery.
On these days, more than 500 monks dedicated chants and blessings to the faithful people and all being of the universe. The festival incorporated ceremonies for exalting the Flag with Soyombo, Mandala, Worship of Ochirvaani, and exalting of the High Saint’s replica, as well as the Religious Dance- Tsam, wrestling competition, horse races, knuckle-bone shooting game, competition among monks, cultural performances and an exhibition for tourists.
Some 190 players have taken parts in the knuckle-bone shooting game, divided into 23 teams. A team from Umnugovi (South Gobi) province won the game, followed by the “Baatar Namun” LLC team.
The top wrestlers, race horses and winners of other tournaments were awarded prizes from the UB City Mayor and leaders of Gandantegchinlen Monastery.
