Dornod /MONTSAME/ 2000-3000-year-old rock paintings have been revealed in Bayan-Uul soum of Dornod aimag. Local people informed that small and big rocks with paintings on them lie horizontally on a path, not far from the center of Ereen bag /small administrative unit/. A working group was immediately set up and three small and big rocks with paintings were dug out. These kinds of rock paintings are rarely found in the territory of Dornod aimag.
Preliminary presumption says that the findings belong to a period 2500-3000 years ago. Detailed studies will be carried out soon to define precise date, said inspector of Professional Inspection Authority in charge of Eastern regional cultural issues B.Mangaljav.
Today, on 23 June, the working group handed over the rock paintings to director of Dornod aimag Museum N.Enkhbayar.
