Money supply reaches MNT 14 trillion

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ According to the report of Bank of Mongolia, the money supply (broad money or M2) has reached MNT 14.0 trillion at the end of July 2017, showing an increase by MNT 500.4 billion or 3.7 percent from the previous month and by MNT 2.7 trillion or 23.7 percent compared with the same period of 2016.

At the end of July 2017, the national currency in circulation reached MNT 887.6 billion. It is decreased by MNT 27.4 billion or 3.0 percent from the previous month and increased by MNT 69.4 billion or 8.5 percent compared to the same period of 2016.
 
The amount of outstanding loan amounted to MNT 13.0 trillion in the reference period. This is up by 1.0 percent from the previous month and by 7.7 percent from the same period of 2016. At the end of July 2017, the principals in arrears reached MNT 892.1 billion, indicating a increase by MNT 95.1 billion or 11.9 percent from the previous month, up by MNT 55.3 billion or 6.6 percent from the same period of 2016.

The non-performing loans at the level of the bank system reached MNT 1,149.7 billion, up by MNT 17.4 billion or 1.5 percent from the previous month, by MNT 120.1 billion or 11.7 percent from the same period of 2016. In the first 7 months of 2017, 53.9 million pieces of securities worth of MNT 923.8 billion were traded on the national stock market, up by MNT 763.6 billion which is 5.8 times more from the same period of the previous year. The traded share number increased by 4.3 million or 8.6 percent with the same period of the previous year.

In July 2017, the Top 20 index of the financial market was 13,610.2, increased by 1,026.3 units from the previous month and 920.9 units from the same period of 2016.
