Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The State Morin Khuur Ensemble will stage a grand concert in celebration of its 25th anniversary at the Central Cultural Palace this Saturday.

On October 16, the Ensemble artists briefed the press on the upcoming concert and other events to be held in the margins of the anniversary.

Since its foundation in 1992, the State Morin Khuur Ensemble of Mongolia has made weighing contributions to the promotion of Morin Khuur, traditional musical instrument and a priceless cultural heritage, within and beyond Mongolia.

“We aim to demonstrate the level of professionalism of Morin Khuur players at this concert. What matters the most is how a musical piece is delivered, rather than which piece it is,” said Z.Khosbayar, Head of Composition of the Ensemble at the press conference.

The Ensemble has released several new works upon the anniversary, which will be performed at the 25th Anniversary Concert on October 21. Directed by composer N.Jantsannorov, State Prize Laureate and People’s Artist, the concert will play performances of the best musical pieces from the Ensemble’s repertoire from the last five years, featuring folk, classic and pop artists.

“We have determined the concert program with due consideration of the standard a 25-year-old Ensemble must demonstrate and the artistic education of our audiences who have been with us for this past 25 years,” said the Ensemble’s Manager J.Uugantuya. She added that the Ensemble has always strived to bring world music through traditional musical instrument to the ears of its audiences.

In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the State Morin Khuur Ensemble, more events including a wreath-laying ceremony in memory of Ts.Batchuluun, founder of the Ensemble, an academic conference themed ’25 Years of Morin Khuur Ensemble’ at the State Philharmonic concert hall, photography exhibition themed ‘Existence…Edelweiss’ by musician, painter G.Gantulga, and premiere of a documentary and portrait of Ts.Batchuluun will be held on October 20.
