String art portrait of President sold for MNT5 million

Bayan-Ulgii /MONTSAME/ A portrait of President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga, created by young artist A.Khairat from Bayan-Ulgii aimag has been sold for MNT 5 million at an auction held during a New Year party.
The portrait was created in string art, which is intensively spreading in recent years. In other words it was made of nails and threads. Artist A.Khairat is becoming well-known by his sculptures and string art works namely ‘Abai’, ‘Hero of Kazakh’ and ‘Best horse’. "I heard Kirghiz artist Azamat Janaliyev created a string art portrait of our President last summer. Then I thought why we cannot create it and started the work. It took ten days to complete the portrait," said artist Khairat.

1200 pieces of nails and about 750 m threads were used to create the 90х70 cm portrait.
