Preparation work to involve Mongolian citizens in H-2 program ongoing

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A video meeting was organized in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on April 17 to ensure joint coordination of Government organizations of Mongolia to implement temporary work (H-2) program in the United States. The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister D.Tsogtbaatar, Minister of Labor and Social Protection S.Chinzorig, Ambassador of Mongolia to the United States Yo.Otgonbayar, and corresponding officials of the Ministries and the Embassy in Washington, D.C.
They made discussions on giving a special permission to domestic legal bodies which established contract with an employer of the United States, raising the legal bodies responsibility, providing condition so that citizens to not pay extra fee and creating mechanism to verify labor agreement established with citizens and work permission.
H-2 visa allows foreign nationals to be employed up to one year initially with possible extension of up to three years in case of not violating the laws.
With an aim to enable Mongolian citizens to participate in the program, the Embassy of Mongolia in Washington, D.C is taking actions including meetings with employers and related organizations of some US States.
