Herders display their photo exhibition
Art & CultureUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A photo exhibition entitled
‘Through the herders’ eyes’: Current
environmental and social problems in Mongolian countryside’ aimed at
displaying environmental and climate change in Mongolia with participation of
the herders opens today, October 31 at Norphei Art gallery.
The exhibition, which will run until November 8, is special
as the photos on the exhibition were taken by the herders, not by professional
photographers. To detect environmental and social problems Mongolia is
facing today and to seek for solutions Human-Animal Relations Under
Climate Change in Northern Eurasia project provided
herders with normal cameras for a year to take photos.
Frequency of natural disasters such as drought, heavy
snowfall, flood and dust-storm has been increasing in Mongolia over the last 20
years.
