About 1,500 civil servants attend ‘The Fiscal Reform’ workshop

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. ‘The Fiscal Reform’ hybrid consultation workshop series was held on November 1-10 in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance for strengthening the capacity of local budget and finance staff within the framework of the EU-Funded ‘SDG-Aligned Budgeting to Transform Employment in Mongolia’ project, UNDP.


In this consultation workshop, a total of about 1,500 civil servants including the heads of aimags and districts Finance and Treasury Departments, budget specialists, general accountants, internal audit specialists, Education and Health Department budget specialists participated in person, and soum and district education, health, culture, sports and administrative and budget and finance officers participated online.




The consultation focused on Mongolia's 2022 budget policy, directions, budget reforms aimed at improving the impact and efficiency of budgeting, enhancing the accountable and responsive delivery of public services, and the results, quality and performance of health, education, culture and sports financing. There was an open discussion on the transition to a semi-independent budget system, the implementation of the ‘Welfare to Labor’ initiative, and embedding the standards, quality, and competitive services in the public procurement system.
