Digital governance to tackle bribery and bureaucracy

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The National Committee on transitioning to e-government and ensuring bureaucracy and corruption-free public services convened on November 11.
The committee was established and chaired by Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene with Minister of Justice and Internal Affairs Kh.Nyambaatar as Deputy Chairman and Chairwoman of the Communications and Information Technology Authority B.Bolor-Erdene as Secretary of the committee.
Currently, Mongolia ranks 111th with 35 points out of 100 for its Corruption Perception Index in 2020.
Due to common reports of bribery and bureaucracy at government organizations providing public services, the Government is currently aiming to digitize all public services and thus become a “digital nation”.
At
the end of the National Committee meeting, the Prime Minister appointed the
following tasks:

to improve the Government's Citizen and Public Relations hotline number 11-11
and its response mechanism as a study has found that people often do not know
where to submit information regarding corruption at government organizations,

to hold meetings with political party leaders regarding the financing of
political parties, and receive suggestions from civil society organizations,
- to develop a code of ethics for civil servants, ( In addition to certain cases where there has been preferential treatment for the issuance of scholarships, there have also been cases where a party falsely submitted their declaration of assets and income. The code of ethics should be developed such issues )
- to sort out permits related to land and mining licenses within this year.
