Sanitary facilities at schools, kindergartens and dorms to be improved

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. At its meeting on January 17, the parliamentary
Standing Committee on Education, Culture, Science and Sports approved a resolution
on measure to replace the pit latrines of public schools, kindergartens and
dormitories with comfortable sanitary facilities that meet modern standards and requirements.
The resolution states that the measures to be implemented in 2022, will to be funded by Erdenet Mining Corporation state-owned enterprise within its corporate social responsibility.
A total of 350 out of 682 schools, 242 out of 535 dormitories, and 220 out of 972 kindergartens still have pit latrines. As a part of the project, 819 sanitary facilities in 330 soums are planned to be improved in four phases.
