Ulaanbaatar, July 29, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Minister of Family, Labor, and Social Protection of Mongolia Aubakir Telunkhan met with the Head of the Economic Department of Nakashibetsu City Keita Ito, and the accompanying delegation from Japan.

The Japanese representatives expressed their willingness to cooperate in supporting Mongolian citizens to work and train in the fields of agriculture, construction, information technology, and caregiving, and to apply the skills and qualifications they acquire upon returning home.

Minister Aubakir welcomed their proposal, emphasizing that “It is of great importance for our youth to gain hands-on experience in Japan’s agricultural sector, acquire new technologies and skills, and develop work ethics and discipline.”

Nakashibetsu City is primarily known for its livestock industry and dairy production. It leads the country in technological advancement, milk quality, and production volume.

Mongolia signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Japan in 2017 to implement a technical intern training program, followed by another Memorandum of Cooperation in 2019 outlining the framework for proper operations of skilled labor exchange. The two countries are currently cooperating on sending and receiving technical interns and skilled workers, thereby enhancing international cooperation.

As a side note, 19 Mongolian citizens are currently working in Nakashibetsu City.
